All-Bran Dual™ can help maintain your digestive system as it contains 2 types of fibre:

  • insoluble fibre: from wheat to help cleanse your insides, as part of a diet high in fibre
  • soluble fibre: inulin derived from the chicory root, is a prebiotic ingredient that has been scientifically shown to nourish the good bugs in your gut.

Research shows that 5g of inulin a day helps promote the growth of beneficial bacteria in the gut1. A 40g serve of All-Bran Dual™ contains 2.4g of inulin or 48% of the amount required to have an effect.

 

Inulin (soluble fibre)

Inulin is a natural type of soluble fibre derived from the chicory root, but is also found in other fruits and vegetables (see table). Inulin is also known as a prebiotic – a substance which stimulates the growth of ‘good’ or ‘friendly’ bacteria.

When inulin reaches the large intestine it becomes food for the good bacteria living there. Inulin helps to nourish these good bacteria supporting their growth. Increasing the number of good bacteria helps to crowd out bad bacteria helping to maintain a healthy balance of bacteria in the gut.
 

How much Inulin do I need?

Research suggests that at least 5g per day of inulin is needed to help increase the number of good bacteria in the gut and to help maintain digestive balance1.
