OUR STORY

Celebrating 100 Years of Good Mornings in Australia

A Century of Innovation

As we mark Kellogg's® 100th anniversary in Australia, we look back on our journey of innovation, purpose, and commitment to nourishing Australian families. Since our first factory was established in Chippendale, Sydney in 1924 and inspired by the vision of our founder, W.K. Kellogg, we’ve been on a mission to create Better Days for our people, planet and communities.

Nourishing Generations

Our iconic products including Australian favourites like Kellogg’s® Nutri-Grain® and Sustain®, tell the story of our evolution alongside the changing needs of families. From the discovery of flaked wheat berries in 1894 by W.K. Kellogg and his brother, Dr. John Harvey Kellogg, to today's diverse cereal portfolio, we've continuously adapted to bring great tasting foods to Aussie households.

Feeding People in Need

To bring Better Days to Aussies and Kiwis and ensure we meet our global commitment of feeding 400 million people in need by the end of 2030, Kellogg has been active in the fight against food insecurity. Over the last decade, Kellogg Australia has donated over 60 million serves of cereal and snacks to help feed Australians in need.

Additionally, through our partnership with the Foundation for Rural & Regional Renewal, we’re providing grants to help fight food insecurity in isolated communities.

Sustainable at Heart

Over the past 15 years we have invested in creating better-for-you foods and executed environmental initiatives to achieve our sustainability and wellbeing goals.

For example, at our Botany factory in Sydney, we've significantly reduced water usage. From 2016 to 2022, we saved 146.5 million litres of water, which is equivalent to almost 59 Olympic sized swimming pools! Additionally, through our Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) we’re offsetting 100% of our electricity use with renewable energy.

Our participation in the Cool Soil Initiative showcases our commitment to work with our Aussie farmers to reduce farm greenhouse gas emissions and future-proof their crops against climate change.

New Horizons with Kellanova

In 2023, the Kellogg Company entered a new era becoming Kellanova.

As Kellanova®, we have a bold ambition to become the world’s best performing snacks-led powerhouse, unleashing the full potential of our differentiated brands and our passionate people.

The much-loved Kellogg’s® brand will remain on our products around the world and you will still be able to buy the brands you know and love in your local supermarkets.

Within Australia and New Zealand, this change marks a significant opportunity for our business to unlock the potential of our global snack brands, while remaining committed to providing Kellogg’s® cereal.

As Kellanova carries the Better Days Promise into a new era, we are committed to lead with our purpose, to create better days and a place at the table for everyone through our trusted food brands.

We Thrive When Our People Thrive

Providing “a place at the table for all” starts in our workplace. We help employees unleash their full potential by encouraging everyone to bring their full self to work and by providing opportunities to spark innovation and build capabilities.

We believe that Kellanova employs some of the best and most passionate people in the world and that it’s our people that are our competitive advantage. We are committed to nourishing our employees’ wellbeing by supporting their total health – physical, emotional, social, and financial.

We champion our people as they develop, and we open doors as they advance. We challenge each other to push beyond what’s expected, we learn together when we face setbacks, and we celebrate our wins.

We are passionate about how we can help make a difference in the world - living the values of our founder WK Kellogg by supporting our people and the communities where we operate. As part of our Better Days program, we are committed to creating purpose for all our employees and encourage meaningful connections in the workplace through our volunteering initiatives.

We have embraced flexible working with our Locate For Your Day model, allowing employees to work from where they are most effective. The program was a first for our company and was designed by our employees, for our employees.

We celebrate a culture of innovation, inclusivity, and personal growth. We’re proud that so many people have chosen to build their careers with us over the last 100 years, helping us become the business we are today.
